Wake up Indian Country!
The occupation’s war against our nations escalates everyday!
Last Tuesday, a force of 20+ armed agents from Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) invaded the Tohono O’odham Nation to “protect” contractors hired to conduct criminal drilling and construction on the nation’s sovereign land.
Later, a heavily-armed Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) team was deployed to reinforce the federal agents. The occupation forces formed vehicle blockades at three different sites to begin border wall construction. Footage shows that they are using industrial drilling equipment for soil sampling.
The nation tried to assert its sovereignty by sending tribal police to trespass the contractors, but the CBP forces denied them access to the sites, ensuring drilling operations would proceed without issue.
The Tohono O’odham Nation spans both sides of the US-Mexico border. Its 37,000 members, split between Arizona and Sonora, are typically free to cross the border with just a tribal ID, but if this border wall is built, it will physically split their nation in two.
We will never win within the colonizer’s system. Their laws and “procedures” are chains on our sovereignty.
The Indigenous masses are powerful beyond measure. We must prepare to struggle for our ancestral land.
Colonialism is not a thinking machine, nor a body endowed with reasoning faculties. It is violence in its natural state, and it will only yield when confronted with greater violence.
