On Sept. 28, a white nationalist organization called “Second Sons” marched near the old Kamloops Indian residential school on Secwépemc land in central British Columbia. Later, after marching to a nearby McDonald’s, they moved to a highway overpass where the dropped a banner saying “Got bones?”
On Sept. 30, a man crashed his Ford F-150 into a Truth and Reconciliation event on Tsawwasen First Nation, killing two elders and injuring two more. He fled the scene soon after. We have no doubt that this was a deliberate terrorist attack.
Settlers terrorize our people because they think they can get away with it. They incorrectly believe that Indigenous nations are weak. They have forgotten our fierce legacy of resistance.
Only a few decades back, our nations were engaged in militant struggle on all fronts against the Canadian occupation and settler incursions. Things seem quiet now, but a storm is coming.
The “Canadian” settler state will not help us. They are our enemy. They fund these terrorist movements. For example, the founder of Second Sons, Jeremy Mackenzie, has a long history of collaboration with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and law enforcement.
We must prepare to defend ourselves from settler aggression. This is only the beginning.
When an oppressed people show a willingness to defend themselves, the enemy, who is a moral weakling and coward, is more willing to grant concessions and work for a respectable compromise…. They are most vicious and violent when they can practice violence with impunity.
— Robert F. Williams
But there is no hope for compromise. There is no possibility of reconciliation. Every inch of this land is ours, so we must defend it to the very end.
Unite or perish!
